The University has teamed up with the UK’s fastest growing mobile phone company, O2, and the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship to offer key awards to enterprise initiatives being developed by Hope Graduates.
The benefits of the awards are:
* a £10,000 interest free business loan
* specifically designed business training support
* incubation space at the University for 12 months
* administrative and networking data support
* the branding endorsement of the University
This year’s O2 awards winners are Laura McGann, who has set up her own film production company; Chloe Robertson, who is entering the competitive hand-crafted jewellery market; and Denny Moulds and Svet Ivanov, who together have set up a web design initiative aimed at new businesses.
Liverpool Hope University is leading the way in supporting its graduates in setting up their own new businesses, with the introduction of its first O2 Graduate Enterprise Awards.
The University has teamed up with the UK’s fastest growing mobile phone company, O2, and the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship to offer key awards to three enterprise initiatives being developed by Hope Graduates.
The awards comprise a £10k interest free loan, business accommodation space, administrative and networking support and bespoke business training.
Peter Hanna, O2’s Regional Account Manager for the North West said: “O2 is delighted to take part in this unique venture with Liverpool Hope University and believes this will be the start of a great programme that will hugely benefit the successful students and the University.

As one of the North West’s largest employers, O2 will continue to be part of the winners’ journey and help drive this success with the University.”
Thrilled students Laura McGann, from Co-Kildane, EIRE, Chloe Robertson, from Llandudno, Denny Moulds from Liverpool and Svet Ivanov, from Bulgaria recently convinced a dragons den type panel that their enterprise ideas are destined for business success!
The panel, made up of Peter Hanna (O2 Field Account Manager), Paul Knight (Chester & District Housing Trust Development and Regeneration Director) as well as Carol Buckman, Business Gateway Manager and Martin Carey, Chief Executive of Urban Hope, were all impressed by the high standard of the entries for the award.
Laura McGann, who studied BA Media and then went on to study the MA in Creative Practice at Hope (awarded distinction), has already set up her own film production company and secured a number of key film contracts stressed: “this award comes at a critical period in my career to establish one of the only female-led film production companies in the UK.”
Chloe Robertson, who studied for a Bachelor of Design at Hope, is entering the very competitive hand-crafted jewellery market and has already seen her high quality designs capturing the attention of a number of key customers.
Denny Moulds, who studied Multimedia with Internet Technology and Svet Ivanov, who studied IT with Internet Technology and is now studying for an MSc Computer Science at Hope, have together set up a web design initiative perfecting an IT product which offers new businesses a fully developed web page at an incredibly low price. Their business model seeks to deliver volume which will generate a sufficient income base to establish a sound enterprise for the future.
